Julian Billotte has been a gilder and conservator of gilded objects for over 30 years and the owner of Capricho Framing since 1994. He studied restoration under Fr. Paul Politis, Abbot of the Skiti of Saint Andreas at Mt. Athos, Greece and apprenticed with Master gilder Joel Hoyer of San Francisco. Integral to Capricho is his partner, Anna Wiziarde, a color specialist and gilder with a Degree in Fine Art from San Francisco State University.
Capricho’s large projects have included the dome of the Church of All Russian Saints, Burlingame, CA, the proscenetaria for the church of the Monastery of Dionysiou, Mt, Athos, Greece, the Governor’s Ballroom in the Hollywood and Highland Academy Awards Complex, the San Francisco Anza and Bernal Branch Libraries, and the Award Winning Bourn Mansion in San Francisco, as well as many other significant projects.
Clients have included: the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The City of San Francisco, the San Francisco Historical Society, Fort Worth Museum; San Jose State University, The Northpoint Gallery, St. Mary’s College in Moraga, St. Ann’s Church of San Diego, The Buddha’s Universal Church in San Francisco, Nordstrom; and galleries, interior designers, and private collectors.
